The Weekend that Was!
Soooo much happening this past weekend, with Tigers across the Tri-State and beyond. The briefest of headlines below, and congratulations to not just these few, but to the 30+ players contesting the various events!
In the school squash world we saw the reinvented MASA (Mid-Atlantic Squash Association) Trophy contested to crown a district champ. Congratulations to our Lawrenceville High School players who performed so well, with the girls emerging Champions and the boys fighting it out to take a podium finish and 3rd.
In Connecticut we had a Silver at MSquash and in Philly a Bronze at the Shipley School. Congratulations to Dhruv, who made the final of the BU17 in CT and to Helen in Philly on her bronze - both great rewards for their recent hard work!
I was in attendance at the Pingry Gold, which was conducted at the Pingry School and the nearby Lifetime and all under the Directorship of Coach Francis who was both very friendly and helpful throughout. From the boys the highlight was Yiden, winning the BU13 defeating an opponent rated 0.2 ahead of him in the final. Apparently no-one told Yiden this is statistically impossible! :) Congratulations to Jesse on his quarter final and multiple 5 game marathons and to Julian on fighting out his matches.
Amongst the girls Alison looked fantastic with her 9th position in the GU13 - notably defeating an opponent rated 0.24 ahead of her in the consolation final! We also had Sara in her first gold and a great event from Katherine in her down year and first outing since a nasty ankle injury derailed the start of her season. Katherine played remarkably well, displaying her trademark composure and movement.
Honorable mentions also to Riyanshi in her first GU11 Gold and to Siddie on her 15th place in the highly competitive GU15.
Next on the competitive agenda is the US Open where we will have Tiger coaches there in person to take everyone through their event and we’re only two weeks away from the start of Winter Camp! Let’s keep the hard work and great performances rolling!
