Squash Tigers Weekend Wrap-up

Eight in the top eight of the PVD Gold! Congratulations to Jonathan, JJ, Eric, Mimi, Madeleine, Lily, Isabella and Chloe. Well done also to the rest of the crew who fought out their draws, with some great matches up and down the roster.

The 2022 PVD Squash Autumn Junior Gold was conducted this past weekend at PVD Squash Club and the Agawam Hunt Club in Providence, Rhode Island. Squash Tigers was well represented up and down the age groups… read on for more!

The GU11 saw Mimi and Chloe put in strong performances, finishing in 3rd and 5th places respectively. Chloe had many notable performances, none better than defeating one young lady rated 0.38 above her… (not unprecedented, but close to it!) Not to be outdone, Madeleine in the GU13 played a great event to make the semi-finals in what was a good reward for hard work. Just wow. Well done girls.

BU13 saw Jonathan finish in 5th position, his second strong Gold performance in a row, only losing out to ST visitor Eric in the quarters. BU15 saw Eric defeat JJ in the 3rd place playoff, both players displaying their mercurial games to the max. Shrikar also did well to finish top 10 in what was a very strong draw.

Lily and Jasmine were our representatives in the GU15 with Lily finishing 4th and Jasmine having a solid run through the consolations. Lily showed glimpses of the form she showed in the Philly JCT and there’s a big season ahead. Jasmine’s run in the consols was highlighted by a rather dramatic recovery from 2/0 down against a player rated 0.2 above… not a bad headline in a weekend of hard matches!

The U17 boys and girls saw Anya, Ayan, Leon and Isabella all have various highlights in what were two tough draws. A lot of big events ahead in the next few weeks, including a Greenwich Gold on the horizon and the matches played with will be a useful preparation for those to come.

Much on the horizon including Rehearsal Event 3 and the CT Gold on the first weekend of November with the big dogs off to the West Coast JCT November 11. (which by the way, happens to clash with myself and Mrs. Frank’s Wedding Anniversary… ;0) Squads this week are focused upon “the Cross Court”, the Performance Crew have a biiiig conditioning week and all is well in the world!

Bigger things ahead! See you at the club.
