The “Winter Season”, as we like to think of it, has now ended with the Silver and Bronze National Champs being conducted this past weekend in Philadelphia. For those of you who haven’t yet caught up with our event report, you can find it on our website. A big congratulations goes out to the crew of players that made it such a memorable occasion for the club.
For those who didn’t play, maybe it’s a nice time to put an asterisk in the calendar for next year. Whether you qualify for Gold, Silver or Bronze Nationals, it’s an excellent culmination to this part of the year, the Championships are superbly run and conducted in some of the most magnificent venues in the country… great occasions to be involved in for any young squash player!
After we all get our breath, a reminder that we have a busy Squash Spring ahead. There are a dozen golds between now and summer, with another dozen silvers and even more bronze tournaments within driving distance of the club. This spring, for the first time ever, culminates with the first ever June “Super JCT” in Philly. As always, training at the club runs to our usual schedule, so this means there’s more than enough training and competition to continue moving along in your squash journey. If you’d like to chat through plans, reply to this email and we can arrange to either sit down and meet or maybe jump on a call.
Weekly points
If you haven’t already caught up with it, you can review last week's Silver/Bronze Nationals report - it was a great weekend in Philly!
Our Summer Camp Information is now available - note that we have added a “full summer” option following requests. Our normal training schedule runs until June 1, followed by two weeks of our “Pre-Summer” training and our renowned Summer Camps kicking off subsequently
Spring Break affects families a little differently, so it’s a good time to confirm, restart or pause your weekly lessons - conversely, if you’re wanting to sign your child up for their first private lessons please reply to this email and I can talk through how to put it all together
Finally a reminder that both Spring and Fall are traditionally the seasons to “get ahead” in the sport. Not unusual for all kids to play a lot in the winter season, with school squash and a ton of competitions, and similarly summer camps draw everyone into a lot of practice. That leaves us with Spring and Fall to make inroads on our opposition, maybe catch up or even get further ahead of our squash rivals.
See you at training!
