Spring Rehearsal Tournament Recap – Sunshine, Squash & Standouts!

Spring Rehearsal Tournament Recap – Sunshine, Squash & Standouts!

Our third Rehearsal Tournament of the year came in the form of our “Spring” Tournament — not exactly the most revolutionary title, but hey, it was seasonally on point and full of fresh energy! With three competitive divisions on court, this was one of our youngest—and most dynamic—events yet.

Coach Claire, true to form, left us with perfectly crafted draws before heading off on her well-earned annual leave (Scotland’s gain, our temporary loss!). Holding it down courtside was Coach Michael, who stretched our Premier Division players to their limits with his trademark mix of flair and finesse.

From our seasoned JCT warriors to bright-eyed first-timers, the day was packed with quality match play. And true to the spirit of our Rehearsal Tournament Series, the court was full not just of skill, but of sportsmanship and friendship — our secret sauce! For a photo overload, don’t forget to check out our Facebook page!

New here? Here’s the lowdown on Rehearsal Tournaments:

Our in-house Rehearsal Tournaments run right here at SQUASHTIGERS! Over the 2023–24 season (Sept–May), we’re holding nine of these special events. They attract top juniors and provide a safe, competitive space for beginners to gain valuable match experience before entering the wider US Squash scene.

Every player gets a minimum of three matches on a Saturday morning, wrapping up by early afternoon. These are non-ranking, no-pressure events — a chance to play hard, learn fast, and have fun doing it. Think of them as the perfect launchpad to squash greatness.

Tournament Highlights:

Premier Division: Coach Michael kept things spicy with some serious on-court challenges, but it was Tony who rose to the top of the player rankings — congrats! Big applause for Katherine and Alison who rounded out the podium, and special mention to Ethan and Evan for their epic 3/2 battle — a definite contender for match of the day.

Division 1: Celina claimed the title with a composed and classy performance, fending off Riyanshi and Riya for top honors. Serena, Yaseen, and Sahana also impressed with their relentless hustle — D1 had the intensity of an ironman (or should we say, iron person) contest!

Division 2: Played on the glass court — and sparkling with future promise — this was the "rising stars" bracket. Ethan C. went undefeated without dropping a game, showcasing some serious focus. Evan H. and Princeton completed the podium like true musketeers. Props to Leo and Vrinda, who showed grit, grace, and a clear upward trajectory — keep an eye on these two!

A Tournament for Everyone: Whether it was Coach Michael dazzling players with all four corners of the court, our Gold-level athletes gearing up for a stacked tournament schedule, or our newest players gaining confidence and momentum — this event had something for everyone.

A heartfelt thank-you to Coach Claire for her draw mastery and steady leadership as Tournament Director. Enjoy your time back home in Scotland — we’ll miss you!

Next up: Our final Rehearsal Tournament of the season lands on May 16 — mark those calendars. And for our regular Squash Tigers… get ready, it’s Drop Week — let’s bring the heat!

Let’s GO!
